“Hard times require furious dancing. Each of us is proof.”
Alice Walker, Hard Times Require Furious Dancing: New Poems

“Hard times require furious dancing.” This quote by author and activist, Alice Walker, speaks to the healing powers of dance. During these uncertain times of COVID-19 my family has been turning to dance more than ever. None of us have backgrounds in dance and we don’t have particularly great moves, but none of that matters. Our living room is our stage. For my family dance is a release. We get silly, funky, and we let our inhibitions go. Usually it’s freestyle, where we all make up our own dance moves along side each other. Other times, we will let one person make up a move and then everyone else has to copy them. No matter what we do we always feel better after.

I made a fun playlist of songs that my family likes to boogie to. You can listen to it on Spotify here.

I also have been loving Ryan Heffington’s Instagram Live dance sessions. They are so much fun!

The world has
Changed:
Wake up!
Give yourself
The gift
Of a new
Day.

The world has changed:
This does not mean

You were never
Hurt.
The world
Has changed:
Rise!
Yes
&
Shine!
Resist the siren
Call
Of
Disbelief.
The world has changed:
Don’t let
Yourself
Remain
Asleep
To
It.
